Winter Snowflake Poinsettia Card
I love it when Christmas cards feature other colors than the traditional red and green. This lovely handmade Christmas card uses products from the Snowflake Splendor and the Pointsettia Place product suites. These suites are available in the Stampin’ Up! mini catalog for the holiday season. The Poinsettia Place suite includes a specialty paper collection made of white velvet-flocked vellum. There are 3 different patterns and two sheets of each.
The great thing about this design with the poinsettia flowers is that the die in the Poinsettia Dies set is made to cut out every one of the flowers. This is a great time saver if you need to make lots of cards and don’t want to stamp and cut the flower on each one. Plus, you get over a dozen flowers on just one sheet. There are two other designs in the package, one of which also complements the snowflake paper designs.
Adding some bling! And other design interest.
Along with easy die cuts, this card also contains my other design go-to, embossed panels. I think using an embossing folder is a great way to add subtle interest and texture to a card. Embossing folders are great because all you need is a complementary or contrasting piece of plain cardstock and you have a design element you can customize to fit any size or shape you need.
To add some glitz to this Christmas card, I ventured outside the Poinsettia Place and Snowflake Splendor suites and took a dive into the Whale of a Time world. Who would think that the Whale of a Time suite would have so many Christmas-worthy products? The Pool Party 3/8″ ribbon adds the perfect amount of sparkle to the card, adding even more interest when tied into a nice bow.
No holiday card is complete without a little bling. Both the Poinsettia Place suite and the Snowflake Splendor suite had embellishments to add sparkle and shine to your card. Really, it’s what sets handmade cards apart from store-bought cards. I finally found a card to use the Beaded Pearls on. If you’ve seen my other poinsettia cards (see link below), you know I’ve been in love with the Wonderful Gems to add a touch of gold to the flower centers. The white pearls didn’t fit the design aesthetic of the other cards. But they’re perfect for this frosty, wintry paper. Perfect! Throw in some of the adhesive-backed snowflakes and our card is complete.
