Sparkly Snowflake Christmas Card
In the new Stampin’ Up! August-December mini catalog, there were several sparkly snowflake Christmas card samples made with the new Snowflake Splendor suite. I love the non-traditional colors in this suite and decided to CASE my favorite sample. I made just one small change to level up the design, but it makes a big difference! Similar to my shaker card, this card can be non-denominational. The design is appropriate for a Hanukah card. It’s also perfect for a thank you card. Since there may not be as many large family gatherings this holiday season, it is a great time to create some holiday thank yous when receiving gifts from afar.
The colors in this card are some of my favorites. And I have quite the collection of snowflake dies. That didn’t stop my from leaping on the Snowflake Wishes bundle This die set has some that stand out. I love the large aperture die that creates a shaker window adorned with delicate snowflakes along the edges. There are seven other dies that are designed to stack on top each other. On this card, I copied the snowflake in the CASE sample and aligned the legs of the two bottom layers on top of each other. Just the Pool Party top layer was offset. The snowflake is capped with a lovely Blue Gem to add some bling.
To add some more textural interest, the Night of Navy flag was run through the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. I thought some extra sparkle would be nice, so I filled the snowflakes on the “receiving” side of the folder with some Wink of Stella. Either my Stella is depleted or the paper absorbed too much of it, but there was no added sparkle. Don’t know if you don’t try!

The one design element where my card departs from the CASE sample is the sentiment/strip. In the sample, it looks like they simply cut a rectangle out of Whisper White cardstock. It was rather….bland? So I broke out the Ornate Frames dies and used the smallest frame. It fit this sentiment perfectly and adds a windblown swirly touch. It’s almost like it’s wind blowing the snowflakes around.
My card needed a little extra bling than the CASE sample. So again, I used the Whale of a Time Sequins. There are perfectly matched blues and aquas to match the paper.
